Asian, Hawaiian & Indian Dining Destinations ~ Off The Las Vegas Strip!

Here are some nice Asian restaurant suggestions that are located in the Las Vegas Valley off of the Las Vegas Strip.  More Asian and Hawaiian dining options can be found on the Chinatown-Las Vegas index page too.  Here is the link to the page:  • Chinatown Dining Destinations ~ Las Vegas!

     Aloha Hawaiian BBQ
Go Hawaiian!  The dining room is small simple and clean.  On the evening that I visited the Aloha Hawaiian BBQ, not one person was eating food at a table.  The dining room looked like a waiting room at a maternity ward!  There were dozens of customers in this restaurant and they were all waiting for to-go food.  The customers either sat at a table patiently or they were pacing the floor with eager anticipation!  I have never seen a restaurant that did more to-go business than Aloha Hawaiian BBQ.  The Aloha Hawaiian BBQ also delivers!  The delivery guy was very busy too.  Aloha Hawaiian BBQ really had it going on!  The Aloha Hawaiian BBQ offers a full menu of traditional Hawaiian food and the portions are huge.  This Hawaiian restaurant is doing everything right!
     I ordered:
     • Chicken Katsu
     • Portuguese Sausage Musubi
The Aloha Hawaiian BBQ is located at 4990 West Craig Road near the intersection of Decatur.  This location is a short distance from Rancho and Highway 95 in the north end of Las Vegas.

     Babas Tsi-Bugan Restaurant
Filipino cuisine is comfortable slow cooked food!  All of the entrees are kept warm behind glass in a steam table and the customers select the items for the meal.  The attendant places steamed rice and the entree choices on a plate and the meal is served.  This Filipino style of serving slow cooked food is great for people on the go!  It takes less time to get a good meal at a Filipino restaurant, than it does to stand in line at a fast food restaurant and one can easily see that good Filipino food is the healthier choice.  Babas Tsibugan is a simple plain restaurant and the Filipino food is top notch!
     I ordered:
     • Filipino Menudo
Babas Tsi-Bugan Restaurant is located in the north end of Las Vegas at 4588 North Rancho, just north of Craig.

     Buffet @ Asia
The food at Buffet@Asia was great back in 2003 when I first dined there and the food is still great today.  The Buffet@Asia parking lot is full all day long and that is always a good indicator of a high quality restaurant operation.  The interior of the restaurant always looks brand new.  Apparently the management and owners of Buffet@Asia really take pride in maintaining a high dining experience quality for their clientele.  The food at Buffet@Asia speaks for itself.  With food this good, very little advertising is needed to keep a high volume of customers walking through the doors.  The BBQ spare ribs were absolutely scrumptious at this buffet.  The snow crab meat was sweet and fresh.  Buffet @ Asia is one of the best in Las Vegas!
     • Dinner Buffet
Buffet@Asia is located at 2380 South Rainbow Boulevard at the intersection of Sahara and there are a few other locations in the Las Vegas Valley.

     China Star Super Buffet
During lunch and dinner hours, the China Star can be quite busy with hungry shoppers who are looking for a bite to eat.  The food has been quite good every time that I have dined at the China Star over the years.  California style sushi, fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, Shanghai Egg Roll, crab rangoon and kimchi are just a few of the selections that are offered during the bargain price lunch buffet.  The China Star Buffet features a Mongolian grill station on the buffet.  The food is piping hot and tasty at the China Star Buffet!
     • Lunch Buffet
The China Star Buffet is located at 4595 Charleston at the intersection of Decatur in Las Vegas.  There are several China Star Buffet locations in the Las Vegas Valley.

     Fat Choy - Eureka Casino
Fusion Comfort Food?  Why not!  Fat Choy recently opened as the marquis restaurant at the Eureka Casino on East Sahara in Las Vegas.  This fusion comfort food restaurant has recently been featured in many local news publications and dining guides.  Easy to recognize fusion food that is combined with low cost conservative American diner style comfort food adds up to only one thing.  Fusion Comfort Cuisine!  Fat Choy also offers a nice selection of Asian beer and refreshing creative house specialty beverages. Fat Choy is the bomb!
     I ordered:
     • Shortrib Grilled Cheese
     • Pork Belly Bao
The Eureka Casino is located at 595 East Sahara, just a few blocks away from the Las Vegas Strip.  This location is in a neighborhood that has a few issues, but security guards are present to deter the presence of shady characters who are up to no good.  The parking lot is well lit and there is security camera surveillance.

     Jin Mee Korean Chinese Restaurant
Jin Mee serves some authenic regional Korean food.  Jin Mee has a few popular Chinese entrees on the menu too.  The Jin Mee menu is written in Korean language, with English sub-titles.  Jjigae is my favorite Korean entree.  Jjigae is served in a red hot earthenware pot.  Jjigae at Jin Mee had a simple Korean word for stew on the menu.  The flavor of the Jin Mee jjigae stlye stew was rich!  This regional Korean jjigae recipe had a few "extra" ingredients that are not always in other standard recipes.  A few pig stomach slices in the stew added a very comfortable rich flavor.  There were a few slices of tripe in the stew too.  Jin Mee is the place to go for authentic regional variations of well known Korean specialties!
     I ordered:
     • Soft Tofu and Seafood Jjigae.
The Jin Mee Korean Chinese Restaurant is located in Commercial Center at 953 East Sahara Boulevard.
     Jumbo Buffet
The price is right!  When hungry and low on cash in Las Vegas, do a bargain price buffet!  The Jumbo Buffet offers an all you can eat asian and Chinese food buffet for a bargain price all day!  Lunch or dinner is the same low price at the Jumbo Buffet.  That is a good deal for those who are suffering through the current bad economic times and for those who hit rock bottom during the holiday season.  Drinks are not included in the buffet price.  Filipino style pork hocks, chicken legs, chicken backs, boneless chicken thigh meat, catfish and pork shoulder blade sections are examples of what to expect.  These secondary cuts of meat are normally eaten by working class people.  This is what the Jumbo Buffet is all about.  Low price good food for working class folks!
     • All Day Buffet
The Jumbo Buffet is located at 1617 South Decatur Boulevard near Charleston or Oakey.

     Jun's Korean Restaurant
Jun's is a plaza style restaurant that has a franchise restaurant feel.  The restaurant is set up like a to-go menu take out business.  There are several tables in the dining area.  Jun's is a modern plaza to-go style Korean restaurant that is like many of the new Korean restaurants that are popping up at east coast metropolitan areas.  The food is good at Jun's Korean Restaurant.  Jun's offers easy to recognize Korean food and this is good for those who are trying Korean food for the first time.  Jun's also markets bottled Korean marinades and sauces.
     Food that I ordered:
     • BBQ Kal Bi
Jun's Korean Restaurant is located at 445 Craig Road near I-15 in North Las Vegas.

     The Krazy Buffet
The Krazy Buffet is a favorite dinner destination of Las Vegas locals.  The Chinese Seafood Buffet at Krazy Buffet is offered at a bargain price.  The food is nice and many gourmet items are offered.  Wok fried garlic blue crab, garlic shrimp and spicy frog legs are just a few of my favorites.  The Krazy Buffet has a vast sushi bar and a Mongolian Grill.  This seafood buffet is awesome!
     • Dinner Seafood Buffet
The Krazy Buffet is located at 3131 North Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas.  There are several other Krazy Buffet locations in the Las Vegas valley.

     Lahaina Grill
One simply must go totally Hawaiian when in Vegas!  Las Vegas is the Ninth Hawaiian Island and there certainly are many good Hawaiian dining options in this valley.  One of the best is the Lahaina Grill.
Menus are offered 24 hours a day, but sushi service is not offered during breakfast hours.  "No sushi breakfast for you!"  Honestly, most folks on the Ninth Hawaiian Island do not seek sushi for breakfast anyway.  A good Loco Moco is a different story.  Fans of Hawaiian food in this city can do Loco Moco for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Island style sushi, Loco Moco, Musubi, Kalua Pork, island barbecue and just about every Hawaiian specialty is offered on the Lahaina Grill menu.  I tried the Lahaina Signature Sushi Roll and it was a really nice combination of warm crunchy texture and spicy flavor.
The Lahaina Grill is open 24/7 and this business has a gaming license.  The atmosphere offers Hawaiian style casual laid back elegance.  This restaurant has a full dining room, a banquet area and full sushi bar with counter seating.  Tucked away in the back of the restaurant is a very cozy Hawaiian style gaming lounge.  The lounge is stocked with plenty of tropical liquors and aperitifs, so this is a great place to chill out and get the Mai Tai on!
     Food I ordered:
     • Lahaina Signature Sushi Roll
The Lahaina Grill is located in the Peace Plaza at 4570 S Hualapai Way.  This location is between Flamingo and Tropicana just a few blocks west of the 215 Parkway.  If you seek Hawaiian style casual elegance and great food, the Lahaina Grill is the place to go!

     Maui Rose
Las Vegas is known as the Ninth Island of Hawaii.  Many Hawaiians visit Las Vegas each week and many casino resorts downtown cater to Hawaiian tastes.  Throughout the Las Vegas valley, there are many small Hawaiian BBQ restaurants.  Some of the Hawaiian restaurants have great strategic locations in neighborhoods that demand a lot of to-go food.  Maui Rose offers an extensive menu.  The menu menu exemplifies how the cuisines of the Philippines, Korea and Japan have infused with old fashioned comfortable Hawaiian food.  Many great looking Hawaiian style salads are on the menu.  A wide variety of appetizers and party platters were offered.  Traditional Hawaiian BBQ, loco moco, kalua pork, chicken katsu, poke and of course the all time favorite spam musubi were offered.  The menu really covered all the bases of what modern Hawaiian comfortable casual food is all about!  The Maui Rose is a must to try!
     I ordered:
     • Jalapeno Bomb
     • Hawaiian Roll
The Maui Rose is located at 2600 West Sahara in a plaza between Rancho and Teddy.  This location is within a few blocks of I-15 and it is close to the Las Vegas Strip.  The Maui Rose is kind of caddy-corner across the street from the Palace Station Casino, so this place is relatively easy to find.

     Orchids Garden
Dim Sum all day!  Dim Sum all night!  Orchids Garden is a large restaurant building that is reminiscent of big free standing Chinese restaurants of days gone by.  The dining rooms are large and spacious.  The seating is comfortable and there are many booth tables.  Orchids Garden has the capacity to handle large dinner parties.  Orchids Garden has an extensive menu that offers many easy to recognize Chinese American style entrees.  Authentic Chinese specialty items are offered too.  For those who are on the go or those who are "see food eat food" munchers, Dim Sum is the way to go at Orchids Garden!
     • BBQ Pork Steam Buns
     • Fried Smelts
     • Noodles
Orchids Garden is located at 5485 West Sahara Avenue at the intersection of Lindell.

     Origin India
I visited this restaurant for a second time recently and I found Origin India to be beyond my expectations once again.  I stopped by for a light lunch, before continuing with my afternoon of shopping in Las Vegas.  The chef at Origin India is very talented!  This chef is a master of creating great flavors and his modern presentations of fine Indian cuisine are truly remarkable.  Origin India even offers a creative signature cocktail menu.  For modern cutting edge fine Indian Cuisine, Origin India is the number one destination in Las Vegas!
     I ordered:
     • Vegetable Samosas
     • Mumbai Fizz
Origin India is located at 4480 Paradise, at the intersection of Harmon in the plaza across the street from the big Gibson Guitar in the sky at the Hard Rock Casino.

     Pin Kaow Thai Restaurant
The Pin Kaow Thai Restaurant is fancy and the dining room was tastefully decorated.  The Thai waitresses wear traditional embroidered silk gowns.  Pin Keow has a very nice atmosphere for dining on authentic Thai cuisine!  The food is superb and masterfully crafted at this great Thai restaurant.  Be careful when ordering extra spicy food in Las Vegas, because extra spicy hot is exactly what you will get!  I prefer spic hot food and the spicy level #10 Papaya Salad was no disappointment!  The menu is extensive at Pin Keow and this restaurant is renowned for being one of the best in Las Vegas!
     I ordered:
     • Papaya Salad (Spicy Heat Level #10)
Pin Kaow is located at 1974 North Rainbow Boulevard in a plaza at the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard.

      Sage Sushi Bar
The atmosphere at the Sage Sushi Bar is very comfortable.  There are tables, booths and sushi bar seating.  The Sage Sushi Bar is an all you can eat sushi bar!  The accent is on quality and stylish modern sushi presentations.  This popular sushi bar is top notch!

     • Rattlesnake Roll
     • Wet Dreaming Roll
     • Omuraisu
     • Japanese Plum Wine Ice Cream
The Sage Sushi Bar is located in a plaza at 4408 North Rancho Drive at the intersection of Craig Road.

     Sushi Ko
Sushi Ko also offers Japanese teppan entrees, table grill cooking, noodle entrees, soups and tempura fried entrees.  Standard sushi rolls, a la carte, nigiri sushi, sashimi and chef specialty rolls are offered on the sushi menu.  The specialty rolls on the menu have accompanying photographs and descriptions.  The atmosphere is casual and upbeat.  Conversations with the sushi chef are fun at this restaurant!
     I ordered:
     • Uni Sushi
     • Godzilla Roll
     • Green Tea Ice Cream
Sushi Ko is located in the north end of Las Vegas at 7101 West Craig Road one block off of US 95.  Sushi Ko is located in a plaza with a grocery market next door.

     Weera Thai
Authentic Issan Region Thailand cuisine!  Weera Thai has a cozy dining room with booths.  The service is very friendly.  There are many nice paintings and decorations that add to the pleasant atmosphere.  The menu is very extensive and there are many Chinese style entrees.  Traditional Thai cuisine and house specialties are featured on the menu.  Weera Thai specializes in Northeastern Thailand Issan Cuisine.  The flavor of Issan style food is bold and tasty!  The chef at Weera Thai is a master of the fine art of creating great complex flavor.  The food at Weera Thai is superb!
     I Ordered:
     • Ped Nom Tok
     • Coconut Ice Cream
Weera Thai is located at 3839 West Sahara in Las Vegas, about 5 minutes off of the Las Vegas Strip.  Weera Thai offers some great Thai dining and they also deliver in the local area.
     마당 - Yard Garden Restaurant
Soothing savory Manduguk!  I have dined at the 마당 Garden restaurant a few times over the years.  The menu is written in English and the food is authentic.  The "마당" signage name of the restaurant is translates to "front yard or back yard garden."  The Commercial Center is an old plaza that has seen better days, but there are some great restaurants to be found there.  The menu is extensive.  Nice looking Banchan and Kimchi are served with every meal.
     Food that I ordered:
     • Pork Dumplings in Beef Broth (Manduguk)

Night Club, Tavern & Saloon Destinations ~ Off The Las Vegas Strip!

Dining, Drinking And Gaming Tavern Destinations Off The Las Vegas Strip!
Many tourists and locals seek cozy comfortable places on big holiday nights, like New Years Eve.  Dealing with large crowds and long waiting lines can be a real drag on a celebration night that is supposed to be fun.  The thought of the push and shove atmosphere of prime tourist destinations and crowded night clubs is good enough reason to look for alternative party destinations.  When in Rome, do what the local people do.  Head for a gaming tavern that serves great food and drink!

     Aces & Ales
Great bar food and a great selection of craft beer!  The food at Aces & Ales is a good example of how modern tavern food should be.  The menu is well written and there is plenty of eye catching lingo.  The cuisine combines gourmet items with good old bar munch favorites.  Craft beer hunters will be happy to know that there are over 50 craft beers on tap and over 150 brands of bottled beer to choose from.  Aces & Ales features and promotes western craft beer in a big way.
The Aces & Ales that I visited is located at 2801 North Tenaya Way near the intersection of Cheyenne.  This location is just a few blocks west of Highway 95 North in Las Vegas.  There is a second location on the east side of town at 3470 South Nellis Boulevard.

The Bacon Bar is located at 3520 North Rancho Drive in Las Vegas near the intersection of Gowan.

     Bailey's Sports Bar
This is a cozy little neighborhood tavern in northwest Las Vegas.  Bailey's has a Thai restaurant that offers lunch and dinner.  There are plenty of television monitors for ball games and this is a Vikings bar.  Bailey's is a good place to wind down late at nigh too.
Bailey's is located at 4341 N Rancho Drive at the intersection of Craig.  This location is a few blocks off of Highway 95 North.

     Calico Jack's Saloon
Good old fashioned food and an old time relaxed lounge atmosphere.  The experience is pure classic Vegas lounge.  The chili at Calico Jack's Saloon is good enough to write home about!  This saloon happens to be San Francisco 49'ers football fan territory and this fits in with the Calico Jack's gold mining theme.
Calico Jack's Saloon is located at 8200 West Charleston Boulevard at the intersection of Cimarron.  This location is easy to reach from the Summerlin neighborhood golf courses.
A Chicago style brew pub in Las Vegas!

     Charley's Down Under
An Australian bar in Vegas!  Charley's Down Under has a wild Australian surfer bar kind of theme.  The atmosphere is relaxed and casual.  This is a favorite tavern of Summerlin locals.  The bar service is very professional and the food is good.  Chili with Cheese and Onions is what I gave a try.
Charley's Down Under is located at 1950 North Buffalo Drive at the intersection of Lake Mead.  A nice place to soak up some suds and socialize!

     Chicago Brewing Company
This craft brewery opened its doors more than ten years ago and has gained a loyal clientele base.  Every brewcino has its own style, theme and beer brewing philosophy.  It is easy to see what this brewery tavern is all about.  Chicago!  The Chicago Brewing Company building has a classic 1930's Chicago style red brick look.  The atmosphere inside the brewery is like hanging out at an old traditional downtown gathering place in the "windy city."  For those who have a craving for classic Chicago style food, the Chicago Brewing Company offers the real deal.  Deep Dish Chicago Style Pizza!  The long bar area has the feel of a comfortable big city lounge.  There is a second floor in the building that serves as Cigar Bar and entertainment is scheduled throughout the week.  An open view of the brewery and taproom draws the interest of craft brew fans.
The Chicago Brewing Company is located at 2201 South Fort Apache Road in Las Vegas.  The brewery is located in a plaza on the northwest corner at the intersection of Sahara.
     Count's Vamp'd Rock Bar & Grill
Vegas Rocks!  Count's Vamped is a hard rockin' bar and grill.  There is a large band stage in the main bar area.  Vamp'd advertises food and drink specials.  The decor and atmosphere at Vamp'd is pure rock n roll.  Famous autographed guitars can be seen everywhere in the building.  A large display of Ghost Rider movie memorabilia is located by the entrance to the bar.  A cool looking Vamp'd custom chopper sits right over the lounge bar.  The food is excellent!
Count's Vamp'd Rock Bar & Grill is located at 6750 West Sahara near Rainbow.  This location is close to Summerlin.

     Double Down Saloon
Raw, raunchy, wild and very Vegas!  The Double Down Saloon has been a landmark since 1992.  This UNLV neighborhood saloon is as heavy duty as it gets.  If you into loud punk and metal in a wild dive bar atmosphere, then this is the place to go.  The Double Down Saloon is the home of the original Bacon Martini and Ass Juice Shooters!  Awesome!
The Double Down Saloon is located at the corner of Swenson and Naples in the Fruit Loop District.  This saloon is across the street from the UNLV Thomas & Mack Arena.

     Five Star Tavern
By merely looking at the signage, one would assume that this tavern is simply a watering hole for locals.  After stepping through the doors, be ready for a shock!  The Five Star Tavern is as posh as any lounge in town.  The Five Star Tavern offers an extensive wine list, great food and a classic mellow atmosphere that is kind of chic.  Jazzy, artsy and pleasant is the best way to describe this tavern.  The perfect choice for enjoying an evening of pure classic Las Vegas lounge!
The Five Star Tavern that I visited is located in a plaza at 4402 N Rancho Drive at the intersection of Craig.  There are a few more locations in Las Vegas.  The Five Star Tavern is classy Las Vegas lounge swank at its best!
     Funhog Ranch
A cool alternative Vegas lounge destination that surely will be happening on New Years Eve!  The Funhog Ranch caters to the needs of the local gay and lesbian community.  The Funhog Ranch gets pretty active and wild on weekend nights.  The Funhog Ranch is a down to earth old west style alternative bar.  The "Fun Hog" theme is evident in the decor.  This Las Vegas bar definitely is conducive for wild times.  The Kentucky Mule Cocktail at the Funhog Ranch is superb!  No food is served.
The Funhog Ranch is located at 495 East Twain Avenue in Las Vegas.  This central valley location is about one block east of Paradise and it is close to the Las Vegas Strip.

     Gilligan's Hideaway
Gilligan's Hideaway is an old fashioned Las Vegas style lounge.  This is a cozy little neighborhood gaming tavern that has a loyal friendly clientele base.  Gilligan's Hideaway serves great food and the dining value is excellent. Plenty of hot food is offered on the menu.  Steaks and pastas seem to be the featured items.  I recently had the Italian Sub at this bar while waiting on a car repair estimate.  The Italian deli meats were stacked high, just like the old days!
Gilligan's Hideaway is located at 2601 Atlantic Street, between East Sahara and Karen.  Atlantic Street is about one block east of the intersection of Eastern and Sahara.

     Hogs & Heifers Saloon

     Johnny Fontane's Beach House
Raw, down to earth and a good place to unwind after work or just plain old chill out!  For those who need a memory refresher, Johnny Fontane is famous for his role in the wedding scene in the original "Godfather" movie.  Johnny Fontane's Beach House can be described as being like a traditional New Jersey Shore bar & grill that is a favorite of the locals.
Of course with a name like Johnny Fontane in neon lights, one might expect to see good old fashioned East Coast style Italian food on the bar menu.  All I can say is that the menu is no disappointment!  The Stromboli at Johnny Fontane's Beach House is awesome!
Johnny Fontane's Beach House is located at 5310 West Sahara Avenue between Decatur and Lindell.  This is a great neighborhood bar and the beer is ice cold!

Larry Flynt's Hustler Club ~ Snatch Burger
Snatch Burger and a unique gentleman's club!  The Hustler Club is a huge luxurious modern gentleman's club that offers the entertainment that Las Vegas is famous for.  There is plenty of dance floor space and comfortable seating.  Wild special events are held on the roof top of the building each week.  The Hustler Club hosts football game viewing parties and the beverage specials cannot be beat.  Food is served at this club and a complimentary buffet is occasionally offered.  The parking lot is huge and there is a full service valet canopy.  The Hustler Club also has its own fleet of limousines and buses.  The Hustler Club can accommodate large groups for special events.
The Hustler Club is located at 6007 Dean Martin Drive, just south of Russell, near Mandalay Bay.  Complimentary limo service is available.

     Mad Matty's Bar & Grill
A cozy, comfortable classic Las Vegas lounge!  Those who miss the good old days when nearly every lounge on The Strip and downtown had a relaxed atmosphere will find what they are looking for at Mad Matty's.  Yes, there are cushioned bar stools, sofas and plush vinyl booths in this classy lounge!
Mad Matty's is a friendly neighborhood bar that serves up great food.  During my visit, I tried the Mad Matty Burger.  The Mad Matty Burger is absolutely loaded up to the hilt with everything but the kitchen sink!  Gourmet burger fans will surely like this monumental masterpiece of chargrill perfection!
Mad Matty's Bar & Grill is located at 8100 West Sahara Avenue near the intersection of Cimarron Road.  This neighborhood bar & grill is on the west side of town near the Summerlin neighborhood and it is well worth checking out.

     Montana Meat Co.
A classic Las Vegas tavern that features beef!  The Montana Meat Company is like the grand old western style steakhouses of years gone by.  The dining room is spacious with a large seating capacity.  The seat cushions on chairs and booths have the classic retro thick padded leather cushion style that was popular from the 1940's through the 1970's.  The golden age of American steakhouse decor creates a comfortable atmosphere for an evening of serious steak munching.
The Montana Meat Company is located at 6371 Centennial Center Boulevard in Las Vegas.  Centennial Center is a large shopping area that runs from Ann Road almost to the 215 Beltway.  This plaza is one block west of Highway 95.  The Sam's Club in Centennial Center is a good landmark to spot, when looking for the Montana Meat Company.
     Outpost Saloon
Karaoke!  "This tavern is alive and active.  On a Wednesday night, this tavern is the place to be!"  Wednesday night karaoke at the Outpost Saloon is the best!  Good food and plenty of breathing room.
The Outpost Saloon is located at 2200 North Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas.  The easiest way to get to this saloon from downtown is by taking Highway 95 to the Lake Mead/RainbowBoulevard exit and heading a few blocks north.

     Roadrunner Saloon
One of the coolest, most comfortable classic post 1940 era western style saloons that I have ever seen!  The Roadrunner Saloon offers relaxed old fashioned western style lounging comfort.  Those who have fond nostalgic memories of chilling out at lounges during the heyday of the Route 66 era will really like the atmosphere of the Roadrunner Saloon.  Great western theme food is served.  The Texas Bottle Caps are my fave.  The Cowboy Sliders are tasty and the Roadrunner also offers "Build Your Own Burgers!"
The Roadrunner saloon is located at 921 Buffalo Drive at the intersection of Washington in the Summerlin neighborhood of Las Vegas.  This location is only a couple blocks north of the Buffalo exit on the Summerlin Parkway.
    Rounders Grilling & Gaming
Good Food Made From Scratch At An Enterprise Neighborhood Gaming Tavern!  Hot chile pepper fanatics will like what Rounders has to offer.  Rounders has a hot chicken wing eating challenge on the menu.  Every food item is made from scratch at rounders.  There are a few comfy chair and couch lounge areas in this tavern for those that like relaxing the old fashioned way.  The atmosphere in this tavern is tastefully upbeat and pleasant.  There is plenty of nostalgic memorabilia and the decor gives this tavern atmosphere a classic western feel.
There are two Rounders Grilling & Gaming locations in the Las Vegas area.  I visited the Rounders at 8030 Blue Diamond Road.  This location is a ways off of the Las Vegas Strip, but visitors that venture to Pahrump or Red Rock Canyon will find this place to be a convenient stop near those destinations.

     Santa Fe Mining Company Tavern
Big honest portions of great food and ice cold beer on tap!  The Santa Fe Mining Company has a comfortable dining room that is partitioned from the bar, so noise is reduced.  There is plenty of old fashioned booth seating to be found.  The Santa Fe Mining Company Tavern has a rustic nostalgic Nevada mining theme.  The dining room, billiard table room and bar at the Santa Fe Mining Company are spotlessly clean and well maintained.  The high ceiling has a modern air filtration system that evacuates all lingering smoke.
The Santa Fe Mining Company Tavern is located at 5021 North Rainbow Boulevard in Las Vegas.   Where Rainbow Boulevard crosses Rancho across the street from the Station Casino, the access can be found.

     Spotlight Lounge
A mellow alternative lifestyle lounge.  Gay & lesbian community members frequent this landmark bar.  Great Polish & Kraut Sandwiches!  Two happy hours sessions each day!  Underwear Night?
The Spotlight Lounge is located at 975 East Sahara in the Commercial Center Plaza.

     Sundance Kid Café
The name of this gaming tavern suggests a wild west theme, but the Sundance Kid Café is a sports bar all the way.  This tavern offers food from morning to evening hours.  The Coor's Lite is ice cold.  This is a comfortable little spot to watch a ball game and gamble!
The Sundance Kid Café is located at 4325 W Craig Road at the intersection of Valley drive in North Las Vegas.

     Timbers Bar & Grill
Timbers is a small chain of local taverns.  Timbers appeals to those that seek an escape from the neon hustle and bustle of Las Vegas.  The relaxed western wilderness resort atmosphere at Timbers attracts patrons that prefer a laid back casual tavern experience.  Mellow is the word!  Timber's Hawaiian Sliders are the bomb!
The Timbers Bar & Grill that I visited is located at 7045 North Durango.  There are six more Timbers locations in the Las Vegas Valley.

Chinatown Dining Destinations ~ Las Vegas!

Here are several Chinatown restaurants and lounges that I have visited and written about in the past.  All of these restaurants are well worth recommending!

Veggie Delight is a popular little restaurant in Chinatown.  Vegetarian cuisine is featured at this restaurant.   The menu offers many traditional and creative vegetarian entree's, appetizers and sweet treats.  Many modern soy products are featured.  Veggie Delight offers nice vegetarian food that will please anybody's taste!  There are a few seafood and chicken specialties on the menu for those who are in a mood for a meaty meal.  Salads, soups and noodle entrees round out the menu.  I have been to Veggie Delight a few times in the last few years.  Veggie delight does have a steady flow of loyal regular customers and this is a sign that the food is great.  The bobo tea, smoothie and slush drink menu is extensive.  Pictures of each specialty drink are posted with the price.  During the heat of summer, Veggie Delight is a good place to find cool relief from the heat.
     Items that I ordered:
     • Passionfruit Slush
Veggie Delight is located in a plaza at 3504 Wynn Road at the intersection of Spring Mountain.
     Yu-Yu Japanese Kushi Age Restaurant
Yu-Yu is a very nice place to relax while nibbling away on great kushiage with guests.  The dining room atmosphere is modern and comfortable.  Yu-Yu also has a modern state of the art sushi bar.
For those who are not familiar with kushiage, the high skilled wait staff at Yu-Yu can provide plenty of good information about this Japanese specialty cuisine.  Kushiage is a modern cooking style that started about 100 ears ago.  The kushiage dining style is social and relaxed.  Kushiage basically is fun fried food on a stick that is meant to be shared by a table of guests!  Kushiage is also a trendy modern gourmet street food style.
Yu-Yu offers a vast selection of kushiage items that range from easy to recognize vegetables to exotic seafood.  Kushiage Combinations for a set price are the best bargain.
Customers simply run through the menu and checkmark the items that they want.  Then the table is set with accompaniments.  The kushiage is expertly fried to perfection and served piping hot.  There is no need for mastering chopstick skills and fingers do not get messy, because the kushiage skewers are easy to manage.  Kushiage is the ultimate food for fun social dining with friends!
Just to avoid confusion, the name of this restaurant has two ways it can be spelled.  "Kushi and Age" are two separate words in Japanese language.  When combined, Kushiage is the result.  The restaurant signage reads as "Yu-Yu Japanese Kushi Age Restaurant" while the website and menu read as "Yu-Yu Kushiage Restaurant."  Both spelling mean the same thing, which is great place to enjoy fun Japanese style kushiage in Las Vegas!
     Food I tried:
     • Sapporo Beer
     • Ginkgo Nut Kushiage
     • Bacon Wrapped Mushroom Kushiage
     • Smelt Kushiage
     • Octopus Kushiage
     • Yu-Yu Special Sushi Roll
Yu-Yu Japanese Kushi Age Restaurant is located in Chinatown Plaza at 4115 Spring Mountain Road at the intersection of Wynn.  The T&T Ginseng Asian style pharmacy is located next to this restaurant in a free standing building at the corner of the plaza.

Zen features Japanese Curry.  Japanese Curry is a very refined, well crafted garam masala style curry sauce.  Zen offers many items on the menu that are meant to accompany the Japanese Curry Sauce.  Pork, noodles, rice and other items are some of the usual Japanese curry items, that most people would expect to see.  The Curry Hot Dog offering is awesome!  The Zen Japanese Curry Restaurant does not advertise heavily, but they do have many regular customers.  Zen is a modern Japanese trendy street food style restaurant that is like those snack shops that can be found in Japanese train stations and airports.  Zen is an interesting restaurant concept and the food is great!
     Food that I ordered:
     • Japanese Curry Hot Dog
     • Coffee Jello
Zen is located at 5020 Spring Mountain Road in the same plaza as Big Wong.  Just look for Big Wong and you will find Zen!
